We’re excited to share that Marine Metals, the venture we co-founded and built with entrepreneur Frank Geerdink, has secured a multi-million investment round and merged with Marine Steel. This marks a major leap forward for circular, safe, and high-value ship recycling and a defining moment for Enviu’s venture-building approach.
The investment, backed by Sojitz Corporation, Jansen Recycling Group, SPDG and Victrix, validates nearly a decade of pioneering work: from Frank’s early vision to the breakthrough wire-saw technology, to proving that circular ship dismantling can deliver both environmental impact and strong commercial returns.
“Marine Metals is the most ambitious project Enviu has taken on in terms of capital requirements. How do we apply lean entrepreneurship to a ship dismantling yard? What could serve as MVP for an industrial scale solution and where to start?” – Paul van der Linden, CEO of Enviu
With new leadership onboard and momentum building, Marine Metals is now gearing up for commercial scale and helping accelerate the shift to low-carbon, high-quality scrap steel for a greener steel industry.
