CupKita offers an alternative to single-use plastic cups for coffee stores and coffee lovers: a reusable-service-system. This system is a replication of Muuse – a company facilitating companies, campuses and coffee shops with reusable items in Bali, Singapore and Hong Kong. CupKita works on a borrow-use-return-principle that enables coffee stores to lend reusable cups to their customers
The average coffee store in Jakarta sells around 50-200 single-use cups per day with the biggest chains selling up to 1.000. That’s 525 -2,100 kg of waste avoided per store per year. These figures show a huge business and impact potential for CupKita to enable circular consumption in Jakarta.
Right now CupKita is in the pilot phase. Together with a coffee store chain in Jakarta, the venture is testing the reusable-service-system. But CupKita’s vision is going beyond solely enabling coffee stores to go single-use plastic free, it will eventually allow the delivery of take away foods in single-use plastic free alternatives.
